During a woman's period, the fluffy tissue lining her uterus, known as the endometrium, is shed along with an unfertilized egg. If a woman is having heavy periods, one way of reducing the amount of blood and tissue lost is to remove some of the endometrium through a procedure called Endometrial Ablation.
